What's th difference between etched glass and carved glass?
Carved glass is similar to etched glass, but glass carving goes much deeper into the glass. Pete uses a sand carving process for his carved glass, all done by hand, not machine. The result is a dramatic three dimensional appearance that offers timeless beauty and invites touch.
What's the difference between a positive and negative design?
A positive design is an etched design that looks white against the contrast of the glass. There are clear areas left in the background for visibility. Think of black type on white paper. A negative design is done in reverse where the background is etched and the lines of the design are left clear. Think of white type of black paper. A negative design is popular when privacy is desired because there is minimal clear space left to see through. Here is a picture showing both styles.

How do I clean my art glass?
The best way to keep art glass free of potentially damaging dirt is to not touch the surface and to clean it regularly. Fingerprints, oils and water will likely stain the delicate surface of etched and carved glass especially if not cleaned right away.
Painted glass is more durable but will scratch if enough pressure is applied with hard or sharp objects. Please use care and ask others to avoid touching.

Why is glass green?
Iron causes the natural green tint that is inherent to regular glass. The green color of regular, or clear glass as it is called, is most noticeable when viewed from the edge. The color is less noticeable when viewing the glass straight on. There are other options available with more or less color.
What is Starphire glass?
Starphire is a brand name of very clear almost colorless glass. Another brand is Optiwhite. Both of these are great for art glass that will have color such as LED illuminated art glass or painted art glass. Using Starphire or Optiwhite glass allows the true color of light or paint to show in art glass instead of having a green cast from normal clear glass.
