Etched Glass Designs by Peter Edward

Carved glass artist Peter Edward Jurgens joined Krystal Glass Company in Pompano Beach, Florida in 1984 shortly after high school and bought the company from its founders in 2002. “It was a natural evolution for me and for Krystal Glass Company since I had been the lead carved glass artist for so long,” he recalls.

Peter Edward, now celebrating 30 years in custom glass art, is best known for the LED illuminated etched glass designs and art glass doors that he creates by hand. He is also an expert with etched and carved mirror. He has a unique style of glass etching that makes the designs come to life.

His signature style involves very detailed shading with varying tones in custom glass art. He has a gift that most people could never learn. “I moved to Florida just after high school to see how my art skills would translate to glass and the rest is history”.

The Artist’s Favorite Custom Glass Art

Of all the custom glass art and decorative mirror that Peter Edward offers, his favorite are multi-color LED illuminated carved and etched glass designs because they shows off the artwork so much better. When asked if he has a favorite custom glass art design among all that he has created in the last 30 years, he doesn’t have to think long.

“Yes. I recently did a carved and etched glass design with LED lights around all sides for a couple in Marathon in the Florida Keys. It was a precise fit for the kitchen backsplash area. I worked on several revisions with the client and we both really love the result. The reason it is my favorite is because of the amount of detail in the carved glass areas,” he said.

The design features a sunken treasure chest at the bottom of the ocean floor spilling out its detailed jewels, crystals and gold coins with a watchful-eyed octopus guarding the top. The sun’s rays shine down through the water and illuminate the other fish, sea life, and coral in the custom art glass design.

“This is nothing short of stunning! We absolutely love it,” said clients Heidi and Jeff upon seeing it for the first time.

Peter Edward frequently receives compliments and testimonials on his work from happy clients, and he is grateful. “Our customers have kept us in business since 1980 by allowing us into their private lives, their homes, yachts, and businesses, to create beautiful art glass for them. It’s really an honor and pleasure to work with them. Many people in other professions can’t say that,” he said.

Carved Glass Artist Peter Edward Creates Memorials

Clients have trusted carved glass artist Peter Edward with very personal and meaningful projects. Two recent etched glass designs were created as memorials for clients’ family members who have passed on. After her infant grandson died, Judy came to Krystal Glass Company to commission the carved glass artist create an image of the baby with wings among angels in a heavenly surrounding. Peter Edward created the special custom glass art for her on LED illuminated carved mirror custom cut to fit a niche in her home.

Peter Edward created a one-of-a-kind custom glass art piece in illuminated, carved and etched glass that displays two Egret birds among the mangroves in a tropical, nautical South Florida setting to commemorate the client’s parents and the waterfront home they loved. The client and his siblings requested two birds in the etched glass design to represent their parents. At the top they are flying off together into the sun’s rays to signify their ascension into heaven. At the bottom of the scene the birds are wading among the mangroves of their waterfront home in South Florida.

Peter Edward created the artwork of the peaceful tropical scene to look like the view from the back of the waterfront home with tropical birds, mangroves and even a fish jumping out of the water. He even carved “Tony and Alice” on the tree surrounded by a heart as if it had been carved in the wood by the couple many years ago.

“It is just as beautiful as I imagined. Thank you so much. It is a beautiful tribute, the client said after Peter Edward installed the piece. ” It made me tear-up.”
