The owners of a 145′ yacht had their hearts set on a spectacular carved glass art showpiece for the main salon entertaining area. The carved glass art for Island Heiress had to be stunning, but first they had to find the right glass artist. The artist needed to be capable of custom art etched and carved on glass with extreme detail and care. They called Krystal Glass Company and made a visit to our showroom.
“You provided a comfort level for us. We knew we were at the right place just by talking to you on the phone,” Dana said.
Krystal Glass Company recently completed this custom 10-foot illuminated carved glass art for Island Heiress.
“Pete hit it out of the ballpark,” Dana said. “It is really over the top. We love it and it is much more than we expected. It looks amazing, nothing short of stunning.”
Rob and Dana called Krystal Glass Company after seeing carved glass art by other glass artists at boat shows, in Las Vegas and in magazines. They spent time viewing the online photographs and previous art glass for yachts and boats on our website www.KrystalGlassCompany.com and were impressed with the variety of completed art glass projects, different sizes and lighting options. They came in and had a consultation with Glass Artist Peter Edward about the art glass they wanted to commission for their main salon area to serve as a room divider.
“The choices were amazing. Much more than the others had,” Dana said. “The website shows talent. Pete is very interactive to talk to. He really listens, and he told us what would look best.”
Peter Edward carefully coordinated the artwork with the clients to include every fish species and sealife element that they wanted in the design. He worked on several design modifications and once the art was approved, he created the carved LED art glass at his art glass studio in Pompano Beach, Florida. There are several areas in the design that are carefully etched and shaded in great detail for a realistic effect. This piece even has a free-form wave design at the top which lights up well from the LED lights.
“The nautical designs are popular in South Florida and it is my most requested art theme,” Peter Edward said. “I let the client specify every aspect of the design and create one-of-a-kind custom designs for them. Aquariums never go out of style. People love them in art glass because there is no maintenance. ”
We asked Dana what advise she might give to someone else who wants something similar to the carved glass art for Island Heiress.
“Prepare to be wowed,” she said.
The carved glass art for Island Heiress is set in a beautiful aluminum base shoe with multi-colored LED lights and decorative cladding to match the yacht’s interiors. The power supply and controller is hidden in a cabinet below the art glass. The LEDs use a standard electrical outlet. A wireless remote powers the lights. The carved LED art glass separates the yacht’s main salon from the dining area on the 145′ Island Heiress.
The carved glass art for Island Heiress is one of several types of art glass created by Krystal Glass Company. Etched glass, carved glass, illuminated glass and mirror and painted glass have been our specialties for 35 years.
